Introduction

Our division-wide mission is to be an inclusive learning community that engages and empowers all learners for success.  We are actively engaged in this mission in many ways but the following are extra special:

Inclusive Learning -- We are a multi-cultural community that embraces all people. Half of our students come from Low German Mennonite homes.  Our staff are passionate about integration and differentiation within all classes.

Engaging and Empowering Learners -- We work hard to ensure our students are engaged.  This means hands-on learning, project-based learning and lots of focused exploration, creation and presentation. Students are empowered as they make learning their own.  Although we are small, we are constantly offering choice in learning.  Our enhanced music program, option blocks, CTS, distance learning, and second language classes all provide variety in programming.

Lomond Community School has aligned itself with our division-wide vision statement.  We seek daily to passionately engage learners in hopes that they will confidently pursue continual improvement now and in the future as contributing global citizens.  In line with this we have started the following initiatives:

Project Citizenship -- This is our school-wide citizenship focus.  Students serve throughout the community and through different projects.  We spend time cleaning up the town, learning from our seniors, sorting shoeboxes, raising money for both local and international charities.

Technology -- Our school is one-on-one using ipads and chromebooks.  We work hard to integrate technology throughout every day. Our students use them mostly for project-based learning and presentation.

Our school operates on a 4-day school week, generally Monday to Thursday.  We also operate a private preschool and kindergarten. Students of all ages have tremendous pride in our school.  Both staff and students are committed to providing an emotionally and physically safe, caring, accepting, and supportive environment with high expectations and positive relationships.  We are committed to continual improvement.
